Mongolian delegation learns from Meatco’s operations

Meatco through the Directorate of Veterinary Services (DVS) hosted a meeting with a high level delegation from Mongolia.

The meeting, which was aimed at studying Namibian animal health management systems, livestock marketing and livestock traceability system, took place on 23 April 2018.

The eight-member delegation headed by Mongolian Member of Parliament and a member of the Standing Committee of Environment, Food, and Agriculture, Mr. Soltan Gombojai toured the Meatco plant for a broader understanding of its operations.

The delegation was taken through the plant, where Meatco Executive: Quality Assurance, Rosa Katjivena, answered all their questions.

Meatco Executive: Stakeholder Relations and Corporate Affairs, Vehaka Tjimune, made a presentation on Meatco’s business overview, production operations, and company’s strategy in the Northern Communal Area (NCA) including the Mobile Slaughter Unit and on its Corporate Social Responsibility vehicle, the Meatco Foundation.

The meeting ended with a question and answer session which allowed the delegation to ask further questions to Meatco’s management with the Executive: Sales and Marketing, Cyprianus Khaiseb also present to respond to marketing related questions.

In his closing remarks, the Director-General, Policy and Planning Department and Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, Mr. Enkh-Amar Mijidsuren, thanked the Meatco executives for a thorough and clear presentation and highlighted the exceptional working relationship between the government and the company. 

He said Meatco had demonstrated best practices and achievements through the presentation delivered, and wished the company well in its future endeavors.

The Mongolian delegation also comprised of two Director Generals from meat and food producing companies, veterinary officials, and officials from the Food Agriculture Organisation (FAO), amongst others.
