Ear Tag Quota System

05 Jun 2020

The Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform, through the Directorate of Veterinary Services, has developed an ear tag quota system that it would use when purchasing ear tags at the Meat Board of Namibia.

Each producer would be allocated an ear tag quota when applying to buy ear tags. A quota is the number of ear tags the producer would qualify for in a 12-month period. It would be based on the total number of ear tags registered and ear tag replacements done in the previous 24 months. The system would then deduct the number of ear tags purchased in the past 12 months to determine the number of tags a producer is eligible for on the day of application.

The ear tag quota system comes into effect from 8 June 2020.
