The Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry (MAWF) wishes to inform farmers and members of the public about the progress made on the implementation of the drought interventions.

MAWF was tasked by Cabinet to implement the following interventions in all 14 regions namely, livestock marketing incentive scheme, animal feed subsidy, lease of grazing and transport subsidy to assist drought -affected communities.

Livestock Marketing Incentive Claims

A total of 5,383 claims were received from farmers, out of which 3,031 claims valued at N$18, 6 million were paid. The remaining 2,353 claims are being processed for payment.

Animal Feed Subsidy Claims

About 4,510 claims were received from farmers, out of which 1,440 claims valued at N$ 1,6 million were paid, while 3,070 claims are being processed for payment.

Lease of Grazing and Transport Claims

Furthermore, 204 claims for lease of grazing and transport to and from grazing areas valued at N$716,573.57 were received and paid.

The Ministry assures farmers that all claims submitted on or before the due date will be settled. Therefore, farmers are urged to submit their claims before 6 March 2020 due date, at MAWF offices countrywide.
