Diplomats tour Meatco

19 Jul 2019

On 18 July 2019, diplomats from the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO), who are bound for foreign missions, visited Meatco to gain a better understanding of the business.

According to Dalicia Olivier, Senior Officer: Events and Special Projects, the purpose of the visit was to apprise MIRCO staff going to various Namibian missions abroad on Meatco operations.

The delegation viewed various presentations and interacted with Meatco management prior to viewing a live feed of the slaughter and deboning processes.

MIRCO is tasked with managing Namibia’s Policy on International Relations and Cooperation as stipulated in Article 96 of the Namibian Constitution, with an overarching objective of protecting Namibia’s national interests abroad.

Meatco has developed several branding campaigns for export beef from free-ranging cattle like “Natures Reserve” for special niche markets overseas. There are various products available under the Natures Reserve brand, including standard prime cuts as well as products developed specifically for some of the global clients.

Namibia has 31 fully-fledged diplomatic missions and three consulates-general abroad amounting to 34 missions and posts across the globe.
