Amon Ngavetene and 4 others vs Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry and 9 others (Case Number: HC-MD-CIV-MOT-CRT-2017/00316)

Meatco hereby informs its stakeholders that the judgment delivered Tuesday, 26 November 2018, on the matter between the  five farmers and the then Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, Hon John Mutorwa, and nine others was ruled in favour of the applicants, which are the farmers.

The court’s ruling was that the decision taken by the then Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry in February 2017 to appoint the current Board was in conflict with and ultra vires the provisions of Section 5 of the Meat Corporation of Namibia Act, No. 1 of 2001, read together with the relevant provisions of the Public Enterprises Governance Act, No. 2 of 2006, and therefore in violation of Article 18 of the Namibian Constitution.
