Meatco products in the local market

18 Nov 2016

The MeatMa range is a complete assortment of value-added beef products produced through Meatco’s Local Market and Value Addition department.

MeatMa products are available in 52 retail stores and restaurants countrywide, with our biggest distributors being Woermann Brock and Metro.

Through the MeatMa brand, Meatco reaches areas as far as Oshikango in the north of the country and Keetmanshoop in the south. The products can also be purchased at MeatMa outlets located at Meatco’s offices and factories in Windhoek and Okahandja, as well as the MeatMa Bonanza in Oshakati. MeatMa products, carcasses and beef cuts at the latter are sourced from the Mobile Slaughter Unit (MSU).

Furthermore, there are clients who value-add the products such as Steve’s Take-Away in Walvis Bay, who produce patties for their local consumer base. Other spots where the products can be found are Shaamu in Okahandja, Otjinene Meat Market, Lebensschule in Rehoboth, Ondobe Yeno Foods in Ondangwa, Fontein Trading in Grootfontein, Tuna Central Trading in Omuthiya, Walyainda Shopping Centre in Oshikunde as well as Woermann Brock and Metro stores countrywide.

MeatMa products are branded and easily identifiable in each of the above-mentioned retail chains and outlets. The products are sold in branded MeatMa packaging and freezers in Metro stores. The 500g product range has a MeatMa label next to the product name.

“MeatMa’s strategy is to bring the product closer to the people. Therefore, through various retailers, consumers can access a complete ‘shopping basket’ of products. Location is another crucial aspect we consider when deciding to position our products,” says Wholesale Manager, Martina Kröller.

Further to Meatco’s mission to bring products closer to the people, consumers can obtain a MeatMa Reward Card that gives a 2% cash back on every purchase and which is redeemable upon the next purchase made. Through the card application, MeatMa receives contact details and mobile communication is sent to consumers when there are specials at the three Meatco/MeatMa outlets.

MeatMa’s aim is to consistently provide the Namibian market with a “basket of proteins”, containing high quality products at affordable prices. This initiative is also part of a wider Meatco diversification strategy and is in support of the Ministry of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development’s “growth at home” policy.
