Meatco attends 8th Heads of Missions Conference

Current and former Heads of Missions attended a conference at the Namibia Institute of Public Administration and Management (NIPAM) in Windhoek on 11 August 2016, and Meatco was present. The conference, which was attended by 32 High Commissioners, Ambassadors and Consuls under the theme “Enhancing Economic Diplomacy for Prosperity”, saw Meatco engaging as a significant economic contributor.

At the conference Meatco’s Chief Executive Officer Adv. Vekuii Rukoro, spoke about the company’s developments, such as the Backwards Integration Project (BIP), the Meatco Owned Cattle (MOC) initiative and feedlot expansion. These all ensure the availability of cattle, which in turn contributes to securing a consistent throughput at our plants. Rukoro also shared with delegates how Meatco has engaged potential new markets like Nigeria, Botswana and Ghana with the purpose of building viable partnerships.

Senior Manager: Stakeholder Relations, Lapitomhinda Hashingola says Meatco tabled aspects such as the posting of agricultural diplomats, who should be placed in strategic regions. “In turn this will develop individuals in the agricultural sector with the mandate of creating platforms that will enhance the sector in which Meatco is a key role player.”

Entities like the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) and Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) also delivered presentations on their business affairs, with the aim of enhancing economic prosperity.
The Heads of Missions Conference is held every second year under a theme established for furthering the development of Namibia.
