Producers and transporters are reminded that the Okahandja Abattoir has closed all operations for the year. Also, due to the water shortage experienced countrywide, Meatco is taking the initiative to save and use water sparingly.

“In this respect, water use has been limited or stopped completely with immediate effect and therefore no trucks may be washed at the Okahandja Abattoir. Also, there are no employees on site to assist with the washing of trucks,” Okahandja Plant Manager, Johan Goosen, said.

Trucks will only be washed at the Windhoek Abattoir, which is currently operational.
Meatco urges producers to assist the company in its efforts to save water and thanks them for their co-operation in advance.
