Logistics Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Management 

  • Manage, direct, coordinate, oversee and control logistic activities e.g., warehousing, inventory, transportation and shipping.
  • Ensure the achievements of the organisational objectives of the Corporation regarding the Logistics department. 
  • Partake in Management meetings and interact with Executive: Marketing and Compliance with regards to delegations and in establishing and formulating broad policy matters.
  • Responsible for various Management reports as required on scheduled intervals.

 

Local and international Logistics Operations

  • Execute logistics plan to move products and packages to reach destinations on schedule.
  • Efficient management of the operations and capacity of locally and internationally warehouse and distribution centres.
  • Develop and maintain transportation systems for local and international freight.
  • Responsible for all transportation activities, including storage of goods, managing information accrued from point of origin to delivery, orchestrating transportation movements, and arranging for services as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations regarding transport / distribution.
  • Maintain receiving, warehouse and distribution operations, by initiating, coordinating and enforcing operational programs.
  • Ensure that quality, quantity, customer satisfaction and financial commitments are met.
  • Recommend and implement new strategies to streamline processes and reduce cost.

 

Administration

  • Responsible for the overall Administration and Management, including budget and cost control for the Logistics Department.
  • Lead and supervise the development and execution of the Logistics function.

 

General

  • Keep up to date with developments in the industry as well as other developments on National and International levels and stimulate innovations.

Perform ad hoc tasks as required from by the Executive: Marketing and Compliance.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics and Transportation or Business Administration. 
  • Msc / Ma would be an added advantage.
  • Six (6) years working experience in Logistics, Warehousing or Transportation, preferable in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry of which three (3) years working experience should be in a managerial position.
  • In depth, proven experience in the Meat Sector with international experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Public Procurement Act, 2015 (Act 15 of 2015), Meat Corporation Act, 2001 (Act 1 of 2001), Import and Export Control Act, 1994 (Act 30 of 1994).
  • Sound knowledge of HACCP and ISO family of standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organisational skills.
  • Strong negotiations skills.
  • Apply specific laws, rules, policies, regulations and procedures.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office). 
  • Proficiency in English communication.
  • Valid drivers’ license.
