Worldwide there is an increasing demand by customers for safe and reliable food. Since Meatco operates European Union exporting facilities, it acknowledges this demand and endorses the fact that product safety in the Food Industry is top priority and cannot be negotiated.
In order to provide our customers with safe, reliable meat product, Meatco has developed and implemented a Food Quality Management System that conforms to the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 and SABS 10330 (HACCP), as well as SABS 049 (GMP). This Food Quality Management System is applicable to all of Meatco’s abattoirs; from deboning right through to dispatch, offals, byproducts and the cannery.
Meatco has a high hygiene and quality standards in the slaughter and processing of meat which is implemented and maintained through the HACCP and ISO systems.
Animal health and welfare is a top priority. The less injury and disease-prone the animals are, the better the quality of the beef. The Corporation has strict control measures in place from the procurement of cattle to the dispatch of its meat products.
Meatco also urges its producers to deliver animals in a stress free manner, without any bruises.
