Minister appoints commercial representative

Commercial Representative on the Meatco Board of Directors, Kay-Dieter Rumpf.

 

Meatco’s vision is to have the most sought-after meat brands in the selected markets in the long-term interests of its stakeholders and that these stakeholders are equally represented on the Meatco Board of Directors.

Unfortunately, the position has been vacant since the resignation of Stefanus J. Oosthuizen.  Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, Honourable Alpheus !Naruseb, to this effect, directed the chairperson of the Meatco Board to convene a meeting of the interest group concerned for nomination of four persons for his consideration in terms of Section 5 of the Meat Corporation act, 2001 (Act No.1 of 2001).

After due process, Minister !Naruseb, by the power vested in him by sections 5 (1) (d) and 5 (2) of the Meat Corporation of Namibia Act 2001 (Act No. 1 of 2001), appointed Kay-Dieter Rumpf as the Director representing the interests of commercial farmers on the Meatco Board of Directors.

Rumpf’s appointment is with effect from 20 May 2019 and will end on 15 February 2020.

Rumpf is a commercial farmer at No. 239 Farm Cook in the Omaheke Region. He is the director and co-owner of a Namibian charcoal packaging plant and export company and has been involved in the Namibian and Southern African agricultural sector as Vice-Chairperson of the Animal Health Consultative Forum from 2015 to 2016.

He holds an N5 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, obtained from the Benoni Technical College in Johannesburg, South Africa, and in 1991, he obtained a qualification as a fitter and turner artisan at the Atlas Aircraft Corporation in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Minister !Naruseb expressed his confidence and trust in the ability, commitment, fairness and professionalism of the appointee to discharge his national duties and responsibilities as a member of the Meatco Board of Directors.
