10 Aug 2018

Namibia hosted the 3rd Annual SADC Industrialisation Week from 30 July to 1 August 2018, at Safari Court Hotel and Conference Center in Windhoek.

The event was aimed at adopting the significant Southern African Development Community (SADC) Industrialisation Strategy and action plans of 2017.

The various key elements of the strategy discussed include a focus on strengthening regional value chains, infrastructure role in enabling industrialisation and implementing mechanisms for Small Medium Enterprises (SME) to transform into value-driven chains.

Meatco formed part of the exhibitors at the event and showcased products, services and shared vital institutional information with delegates and the public.

“The Industrialisation Week remains a good platform for us to notify other regional member states of how the company contributes to economic development both locally and regionally,”Meatco’s Senior Officer: Events and Projects, Dalicia Olivier, said.

On the last day, the event saw 15 delegates from the member states tour Meatco’s facilities for a familiarisation on operations in order to strengthen ties between industry and government and to develop appropriate interventions and plans that will support the realisation of the organisation’s industrial strategy.

The event was hosted by the Ministry of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development (MITSMED) with the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Business Foundation and the SADC Secretariat.
