Producers are reminded that the 90/40 day rule applies to the delivery date and not the slaughter date.

“Producers may only deliver cattle to Meatco if the 90/40 day status on day of movement is complete. Anything less and the cattle do not qualify for 90 days and can only be slaughtered for the local market. The same applies to the 40 day status,” says Koos Claassens, Coordinator of Producer Services.

Consequently, cattle may only travel to Meatco on day 90.
