Meatco Scoops three PMR Africa Awards

The Meat Corporation of Namibia (Meatco) won two Overall Golden Arrow Excellence awards as well as a Golden Arrow Excellence award at the 2015 Performance and Management Review (PMR) Africa Awards held in Windhoek on 16 February. The Overall Golden Arrow Excellence awards were made in the categories for Agriculture Livestock and Agriculture Abattoir Services, while the Golden Arrow Excellence Award was conferred in the category for Meat Processing.

The awards took place following a national survey conducted by the research consultancy firm, PMR Africa. The awards follow a research process where companies are rated based on perceptions of the respective company, its processes, leadership, competitiveness, effectiveness, excellence, customer service and levels of satisfaction. For Meatco, the awards continue to demonstrate that the company is a leader in the Namibian meat industry and is recognised as a company that offers service excellence.

Meatco received Golden Arrow awards in the following categories:

  • Agriculture: Livestock Excellence 1st Overall
  • Agriculture: Abattoirs Excellence 1st Overall
  • Meat Processing:Company Excellence

The PMR award ratings are based on surveys conducted amongst a random sample of about 180 respondents, comprising CEOs, MDs, business owners, company directors and managers, and senior national government officials based in Namibia.

Last year Meatco snapped up two Golden Arrows in the categories for Agriculture Livestock and Meat Processing Companies, as well as a Silver Arrow for Agriculture Abattoirs. This year’s Golden Arrows prove that Meatco’s strategy to improve the quality of our abattoirs is paying off, since we moved up a category.

“Meatco management and staff are thrilled with these accolades and the recognition being bestowed on the company,”said Meatco Chief Executive Officer, Adv. Vekuii Rukoro. “The awards bear testimony to the fact that the strategies we have put in place over the last two years are not only bearing fruit in terms of profitability, improved producer prices and better stakeholder relations, but also when it comes to the business’s key operational imperatives. I would like to dedicate all three these awards to the hardworking employees of Meatco who have embraced the culture of ‘a winning organisation’ and working for ‘a common purpose’! Thank you Team Meatco!”
