Meatco has launched a new brand of products onto the Namibian market called MEATMA.
MEATMA is a complete range of quality value-added meat products produced through Meatco’s Local Markets and Value Addition department.
MEATMA products are available to local Namibians at affordable prices starting from as low as N$4.00 per kilogram.
The new brand of products was launched on 28 August 2014, at the Meatco Head Office. John Mutorua, the Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, and Calle Schlettwein, the Minister of Trade and Industry officiated the launch. Also in attendance were Meatco Board Chairperson, Martha Namundjebo-Tilahun, Chief Executive Officer, Vekuii Rukoro and Meatco’s Executive for Local Markets and Value Addition, Cyprianus Khaiseb.
The range of MEATMA products include a variety of braaiwors such as Beef Griller, Chakalaka, Fiesta, Legends, Babalaas and Barbeque. Also available will be beef patties, beef mince, Chiefs Choice econo burgers, hindquarter leg, shin, club steak, and many more.
To add diversity to products and provide more choice to customers, Meatco, through MEATMA, will also add value to additional products like viennas, meatballs, chicken loaf and luncheon rolls.
“The objective of MEATMA is to consistently provide the Namibian nation with a protein basket containing high quality products at family affordable prices. This initiative forms part of a wider Meatco market diversification strategy and is in support of the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s ‘Growth at Home’ focus which aims to diversify the economy and encourage local value addition and manufacturing,” said Cyprianus.
Meatco CEO, Adv. Vekuii Ruloro described MEATMA as a very important initiative that comes with much anticipated future growth throughout the country.
“Through this initiative, Meatco will create much needed jobs in the country, which will help decrease the unemployment rate. Additional benefits such as skills and knowledge development for staff cannot be overemphasised as that is the key for the development of our country,” he said.
All MEATMA products are produced according to Meatco’s strict quality practices, because our customers deserve the best.
“MEATMA is yours, it is mine, it is proudly Namibian,” Vekuii said.
All MEATMA products will be sold at the MEATMA Outlet situated next to the Meatco Head Office in Windhoek’s Northern Industrial Area. Shop hours start from 08h00 to 16h00 during weekdays and 08h00 to 13h00 on Saturdays.
In Okakarara, MEATMA products are available at Zokka’s Meat & Biltong. In Ogwediva, MEATMA products will be available at the Bonanza Butchery, situated on the Oshakati main road.
Each customer will be furnished with a MEATMA Reward Cards that will enable them to buy from the MEATMA Outlet. The Reward Cards will accumulate points with each purchase and such points can be redeemed at any stage for exchange in purchasing MEATMA products.
