Meatco’s Windhoek Factory is a world class abattoir and meat processing facility that has been operational since the late 1950’s. It is Meatco’s only facility to process both large and small stock. The Windhoek Factory has the capacity to slaughter 500 cattle per day, 1 700 sheep per day and 180 pigs per day. It is ISO 9001 and HACCP certified and is regularly subjected to independent European Union audits and various other audits including a Woolworths audit.

The Windhoek factory also has the capacity to produce 80 000 canned beef products per day, 20 tons of by-products per day, 5 tons of dripping per day, 100kg of kaiings per day and 5 tons of tallow per day.

The Windhoek Factory employs approximately 570 people. It has a rich history and played an integral part in the events leading to the formation of the Meat Corporation of Namibia in 1980’s.
